Cheteshwar Pujara’s India-Australia Test will be tough, Glenn McGrath will take on
The much-awaited India-Australia series is underway and currently Men in Blue holds the rights to bang. After dominating their first Test series Down Under in the 2018-19 tour, India have no fear of showing their class again this time.
The current team is smart and efficient enough to be ready for any challenge, and a 2–1 win two years ago is considered to be Virat Kohli’s extraordinary achievement as captain. In the same light, former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath feels that India “has no fear of coming to Australia as they used to.”
While the legendary bowler credited his trade with the team in the late 1990s and early 2000s, India lacked some classes. In 2003-04, when India did not play McGrath, the Indians did not have much to show on Australian soil except for a 1–1 draw. However, circumstances and circumstances have changed drastically.
This will be India’s first international event since February, and captain Kohli will only lead the side for the first Test. The pink ball game is scheduled to begin in Adelaide on 17 December and Kohli will return to India after the match with his pregnant wife. Anushka Sharma.
His absence in India could lead to some tough times where David Warner and Steve Smith will also be eager to make their mark as they did not get to play on the previous tour due to his suspension following the ball tampering saga.
Cheteshwar Pujara will have to work hard: McGrath
Another factor that helped India steal glory last time was the form of Cheteshwar Pujara, the leading run-getter. He has been away from competitive cricket for a long time, and will have to work hard to fall back into place.
He said, “He did so well last time that he captured the crease. He only spent time in the middle of batting. He is a type of batsman who does not feel pressured to score runs. It is unique in the modern era where there are batsmen who would like to score runs after a young woman.
He said, ‘With the fact that he has not spent much time in the middle, there is no batting time for a long time, it is going to have a big impact. McGrath further said that perhaps he will have to work hard for this series as he has not played any cricket.
