
Cricketer T Natarajan Life Story : From a village in Salem to India debut
Thangarasu Natarajan aka T Natrajan is a 29-year-old left-arm fast bowler from Tamil Nadu. Growing up in a sleepy village 36 km off Salem, Thangarasu, till he was 20, played only in tennis ball cricket.
Till his 20s he had not even seen a proper cricket ground. But after a good IPL Season the Yorker King has made it to Team India and has impressed everyone with his brillant bowling aganist Australia in the Last ODI & the first T20I.
“There was very little money. As the eldest of five siblings, I have a brother and three sisters, there was a lot of responsibility on me,” he said.
Nattu first came into some limelight when he represented the team of BSNL in Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s fourth division league. Natarajan then played 1st division cricket for Vijay Cricket Club for almost a year.
Later, he moved to Jolly Rovers, a popular club that has fielded big names like Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay.
He caught attention with his focused Yorker bowling “I think this is because of my tennis ball cricket background. I strove for air speed because that is one way you could beat the bat with the tennis ball.” he told.
The dream kept getting bigger for Natarajan, In 2015 he made his Ranji debut against Bengal at the Eden Gardens.
The left-arm pacer was one of the top bowlers for India as he returned with exceptional figures of 3/30 in his 4 overs to help India defend 161 in the T20I series opener in Canberra and take a 1-0 lead.
