England name squads for South Africa ODIs and T20Is

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named England’s ODI and T20I squad for the tour of South Africa on Tuesday, starting on Friday 27 November. Eoin Morgan, whose tenure for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2020 Indian Premier League. (IPL) ended, being named as captain in all three formats.

Meanwhile, Sam Curran, Joffra Archer and Ben Stokes are excluded from the ODI squad. The trio were a part of the 2020 IPL in the United Arab Emirates and had a rough time over the past seven weeks. While Archer and Stokes played for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Curren had a part Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

On his omission, England’s national chief selector, Ed Smith, said the trio’s good performance helped them make their way into the cash-rich and prestigious IPL. He also highlighted the importance of giving the players adequate rest to avoid fatigue and any kind of injury.

“If you look at those three England players – Carran, Archer and Stokes – and their commitment to their big performances in England shirts, I don’t think anyone can question their commitment for this reason,” Smith said.

“Clearly multi-format players who also play franchise cricket, so the players we’re talking about – (Jose) Butler, Stokes, Archer and Curran – are people who need some rest and We, as selectors, keep this in mind a lot, ”she added.

Root and Vox are not part of England’s T20I team

As far as the teams are concerned, Which root And Chris Woakes did not find a place in the Three Lions’ T20I team. The ODI and T20I series will be hosted by two venues in South Africa – Newlands in Cape Town and Boland Park in Paarl.
