‘He is a human like all of us’ – Justin Langer praises Virat Kohli for taking paternity leave from Australia tour

Australia head coach Justin Langer praised Virat Kohli for deciding to prioritize his family and be with wife Anushka Sharma, who is due to give birth to his first child in the month of January. Earlier, the 32-year-old Kohli took a paternity leave and would leave the Australian territory after a day-night test at the Adelaide Oval starting on 17 December.

Langer, who has been in charge of the Australian team for two years, praised the Delhi-born Kohli as the best in the business and said that his absence may not bode well for the Indian team. Virat Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will not be part of the Test.

Langer says that Virat Kohli’s absence will have an impact

Langer was quoted as saying by India Today, “Virat Kohli is probably the best player I have ever seen in my life for many reasons not only with batting, but also for his energy and dedication to the game.”

“I cannot believe that he displays the energy that he does in what he does and I have received a lot of respect for him. I am also honored for him in the sense that he has made this decision (for his child To return to India for birth).

“He is a human being like all of us … If I am mentoring any of my players, I will always say never miss the birth of your children because it is one of the great things that you Will do anytime.

He said, ‘Of course, it (Kohli’s absence) will have an impact, but we also know that India beat us last time (in 2018-19). They are a very, very good team, we cannot be happy for each other, with or without Virat.

Last time in 2018-19, Kohli became the first Indian captain to win a Test series in Australia. Although he scored a half-century and a century, he could not meet the standards set with the bat in his hands, averaging around 40.
