Shikhar Dhawan was one of the talking points recently when David Warner and Rohit Sharma went live on Instagram recently. While both the cricketers listed down the advantages of batting with the aggressive opener, they hilariously took a dig at him as well spilling some interesting secrets while opening the innings. One of those was the Aussie cricketer stating that Dhawan likes facing the spinners more than the pacers.

Both, Dhawan and Warner, have opened for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before in the IPL and have won many matches for them. Rather the latter also lauded the Delhi cricketer’s ability to take the game away from the opposition once he is set. However, he hilariously pinched a salt stating that the left-hander loves facing the spinners more.

On Wednesday, during the live session with Irfan Pathan, Shikhar Dhawan responded to his claims mentioning that being an opener, he has to face the pacers irrespective of the fact that if he is taking the strike on the first ball of the match or not. Rohit and Warner had also alleged the 34-year-old of not handling the opening delivery of the game ever.

It’s been 8 years since I started opening for India, says Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan cited that he has been opening for India since last eight years playing all the three formats. Though he is no more a part of the Test team over the last 20 months the opener has been doing it all his career at the highest level. He also admitted that it is tough facing the pacers on a helpful pitch but he fights it out.

“See, everyone has their own views, but, it’s been 8 years since I’ve started opening for Team India, I will obviously face pacers, if I am not facing in the first over, I’ve to face at least in the second over. I played for Team India in all three formats as an opener. Of course, if we are playing on seaming wicket, it’s tough but we will fight it out,” he said.
