The half-century innings of Suryakumar Yadav (51 for 38) and Ishan Kishan (30 * 55) greatly influenced Mumbai’s innings.

Shreyas Iyer, who lost as captain, said

I do not want to speak negatively about the team, but to move forward it is necessary to come up with a strong mindset. It is never too late, and we will see to it that we came back strongly. I think we were at the top when we got two quick wickets, and they were 102-4. We could have put in more capital at the time, and got two more wickets – maybe we could have chased around 170, but that is part and parcel of the game. You cannot be there every night. We keep talking about the opportunities that we get and it is important to have a good mindset. It is not easy to live in a bubble and follow the same routine, but the exercises we have done in the last few days, I am really happy with the boys and their preparations. Ravi Ashwin was positive for us tonight – he plays with the batsmen’s head, is actually very good for him in the team, and he is a great asset to us, especially as a captain. All his batsmen are in great touch and are incredible in the order of Hardik / Pollard. You cannot control the situation when all the batsmen are in good touch, but we will do better in the next match.

Captain Rohit Sharma said

I think this is the best performance. The way De Cock and SKY caught momentum after my early dismissal was good to see. True result for us. We never had a goal in mind. We are a different team and we play differently. We just wanted to do a good powerplay and then take it from there. We knew we had the power to accelerate in the end. Ishan is in great form right now, so we wanted him to be really positive after being dismissed for the second time. We told that Krunal too, just has to bat positively and bring the bowlers under pressure. With such a versatile team, we can change the batting and bowling order. I have not seen him (Bault). But that sounds fine. I don’t think it’s a big problem. Three days rest and should return to the park. Bumrah and Bault have been in solid form. They play for different teams so they have different plans. We have different plans as a team and it is great to see them executed.

The player of the match Jaspreet Bumrah said

I am fine with not getting wickets and winning the tournament, I have been given a role so I just want to play that role. The opening yorker was really important. I decided that I would hurry into the game and it would always be good when it stopped. I am always ready when the captain wants me to bowl. I do not focus on the end result. When I have done that it has always gone down.
