Pakistan’s top-order batsman Babar Azam is undoubtedly a phenomenal talent. With supreme consistency across formats, Babar has built his image as one of the fascinating batsmen of modern-day cricket. Last year he was made the T20I skipper of the team and recently, he was rewarded with the ODI captaincy as well.

Babar”s constant run-making ability has seen him compared to the Indian captain and the leading run-scorer of modern cricket, Virat Kohli. Lots of fans and few experts feel that Babar has all the qualities to be like Kohli in the international arena.

Recently, England spinner Adil Rashid picked Babar over Kohli, stating Babar”s current form is better. However, the 25-year-old doesn’t like to be compared with his Indian counterpart. Babar, on Monday, opined it would be better if people don’t compare him with the Indian talisman.

While speaking to journalists via video conference, Babar regarded Kohli as a different type of player, and he doesn’t like to get compared with the Indian skipper.

“It will be good if these comparisons are not done. “He [Kohli] is a different type of player; I am a different type. That’s why I always say my job is to focus on helping my team win’,” said the Lahore-born.

Speaking about his new role as an ODI skipper of Pakistan team, Babar articulated that he is ready to take up the responsibility.

“Definitely (I am prepared for captaincy in Odys). First, I got a call from Wasim Khan (PCB CEO) and then from Misbah-ul-Haq. They informed me that I was going to be the ODI captain as well,” Babar added.

“Challenges are to be faced. I know there are talks about pressure and responsibility coming to me very soon in my career. But I can’t say ‘I am not ready’. It’s your responsibility. People have given me this responsibility because they felt I am ready. I am prepared for the challenge,” he added further.
