Ahead of the much awaited series between Australia and India, former coach John Buchanan has compared Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli. India and Australia are scheduled to play horns in three ODIs and three T20Is before playing the much awaited four-match Test series. The tour is going on with a one-day series on 27 November.

And ahead of the series, Buchanan praised Kohli. The India captain is known for his never-ending and fearless attitude on the field, which has made Buchanan a parallel between Kohli and Ganguly. The former coach said that he sees Ganguly’s complexion in Kohli. Remembering Ganguly captaincy, Buchanan said that like the former captain, Kohli also figures out how to lead his team against strong teams.

“Once Sourav took over, he not only devised a different way of playing but a different way of conducting himself against strong protests against Australia. There was a developing rivalry to be sure, but Sourav was able to take it to another level. Like Ganguly, Kohli has done the same thing for Team India. “John Buchanan told Sportstar.

Virat Kohli has done an incredible job: John Buchanan

John Buchanan further praised Lead kohli. He said that Kohli has done a good job as a captain despite his performance with the bat. He recalled India’s tour of Australia in 2018–19 to withdraw his claim. Kohli did not really meet the expectations on that tour with the bat but became the first Indian captain to win a Test series in Australia.

“He [Virat Kohli] Has done an incredibly good job – whether he is scoring or not. If we go back to 2019, Pujara was the star of the series and Kohli contributed something, so it did [Ajinkya] Rahane But Kohli’s real contribution is his leadership and captaincy and the way he has created greatness – not only to win the game, but also as a way to defeat the teams, ”said John Buchanan.

For the upcoming Test series, Kohli will not be able to play all four games. The captain of India will return home after the first test of the birth of his first child. Speaking about it, Buchanan said that Kohli’s absence will not only be felt on the field, but it will also be called off.

“Whoever replaces him – who is probably going to be Rahane – could be a good leader, but Kohli has something special about him. It’s not only on the field, but they’re also missing him from the field “Because it’s going to be a long tour,” Buchanan said.
