Pakistan pacers Hasan Ali and Mohammad Amir are reportedly bemused after being removed from the central contract for the 2020-21 season. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the list of centrally contracted players last week. They took a few tough decisions axing the underperforming players even as the head coach Misbah-ul-Haq backed it as well.

He also stated that the fact that Hasan Ali didn’t play the most part of the previous season due to injury was the reason for his axing. He also mentioned that Amir and Wahab Riaz weren’t handed the contracts as they retired from red-ball cricket during the 2019-20 season.

But it hasn’t gone down well with Hasan Ali and Amir it seems as they have left the PCB‘s WhatsApp group for issues and recommendations related to fitness according to a report in Cricket Pakistan.

Players leaving the group not unusual

The main reason for the duo to leave the group though is not known yet. However, if the team sources are to be believed, players voluntarily leaving the group after being left from the central contract list is not unusual. Interestingly, Wahab Riaz is still part of the group despite being in the same boat as Amir.

The report further stated that Wahab, Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali are extremely unhappy for being denied the contract. But the pace trio is refraining from expressing their disappointment in public. Hasan had posted a cryptic tweet soon after the PCB’s media release about centrally contracted players only to delete it later.

He had posted a picture of his trademark generator celebration and had captioned it claiming that it is not only for his bowling. While Amir and Wahab not being happy is understandable as they are still available to play two other formats, Hasan Ali’s displeasure is quite surprising. He hardly played for Pakistan since the World Cup partly due to his poor form and majorly due to his injury.

The 25-year-old is also set to be out of action for the next 6-8 months thanks to his recurring back injury. The PCB is closely monitoring his situation and consulting the doctors overseas whether to carry out a surgery.
