In year 1994 Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was awarded Arjuna Award for his outstanding sporting achievements

At the age of 21, Sachin Tendulkar had already established himself in the Indian team and was counted amongst the best players across the world.

The Indian government recognised that when they gave him the Arjuna Award in 1994.

He is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries, the first batsman to score a double century in a One Day International

The only player to complete more than 30,000 runs in international cricket. and the 16th player and first Indian to aggregate 50,000 runs or more in all forms of domestic and international recognised cricket.

Who is given the Award & by Whom ?

The Arjuna Awards are given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India to recognize outstanding achievement in sports.

Started in 1961, the award carries a cash prize of ₹5,00,000, a bronze star of Arjuna and a scroll
