Sachin Tendulkar reveals two biggest regrets of his career

Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer is rated as one of the finest batsmen in the history of international cricket. The fans have given him different nicknames like God of Cricket and Master Blaster, who holds a long list of records in Tests and ODIs. There was merely left anything to achieve for Tendulkar when he bid adieu to all forms of cricket. However, in an interview, he revealed the two biggest regrets of his illustrious career.

The former Indian legend was a nightmare for any talented bowler across the globe in his time. He faced some of the finest bowlers in the history of cricket with the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and many others. However, he still ended up scoring most runs in Tests and ODIs in international cricket. Moreover, some of his records are just impossible to break for upcoming generations.

In an interview to, Sachin Tendulkar explicitly talked about the two regrets in his cricketing career. Master Blaster said that his first regret is that he never got an opportunity to play with Sunil Gavaskar. The former opener opined that Gavaskar was his batting hero. But, Little Master retired from cricket a few years before Sachin made his debut in international cricket.

“I have two regrets. The first is that I have never played with Sunil Gavaskar. Mr Gavaskar was my batting hero when I grew up and not playing with him as part of a team remains a regret. Mr Gavaskar retired a couple of years before I made my debut,” Tendulkar told

Sachin stated that his second regret is not being able to play against West Indies legendary cricketer Sir Vivian Richards in international cricket. According to Sachin, he played against Richards in county cricket, who retired in 1991.

“My other regret is not having played against my childhood hero Sir Vivian Richards. I was fortunate to have played against him in county cricket, but I still rue not being able to play against him in an international match. Even though Sir Richards retired in 1991 and we have a couple of years overlapping in our careers, we did not get to play against each other,” he added.
