Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the best batsman across all the formats at the moment. The way he has been churning runs over the last few years is impeccable and many cricket experts believe that he will definitely Sachin Tendulkar‘s record of 100 centuries in international cricket. However, Kohli’s aggression on the field is talked about more as well with a few feeling that he should tone it down at some point.
Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram, however, reckons that his nature would’ve given him a chance to get his wicket. He also felt that Sachin and Kohli are completely different in nature and he would’ve sledged the latter to dismiss him. Akram also recalled the fact the master blaster used to get more determined whenever he said a few words to him.
Sachin used to be aggressive in batting in response but he was calm in nature according to Wasim Akram. But he highlighted that the same is not the case with Virat Kohli who gets angry very quickly and this is where he gets a chance to send back India’s captain while bowling at him.
“He [Virat] is the modern great but compared to Sachin, these are two different players altogether. Both are aggressive but of varying nature. As a bowler you look at a batsman’s body language, if I sledged Tendulkar he would have become more determined because he was aggressive but calm in nature
“On the other hand, if I did the same to Kohli, he might get angry and try to attack me which gives me a good chance to take his wicket,” the 53-year-old said during an interaction with Aakash Chopra.
Virat Kohli is a nightmare for the bowlers, feels Wasim Akram
Wasim Akram also lauded Virat Kohli for his exceptional batting technique stating that he is literally a nightmare for the bowlers in that aspect. He also backed the 31-year-old to break a majority of records during his illustrious career. “As far his technique is concerned, Virat Kohli is a nightmare for bowlers nowadays. He is supremely fit and will go on to break a lot of records,” he added.
