Steve Smith looks forward to dealing with Indian pacers in Test series against India

India and Australia are set to play horns against each other in the much-awaited four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy starting on 17 December in Adelaide. One of the mainstays of former Australian captain and his batting line-up Steve Smith has been charged for the Test series and is eager to face the Indian fast attack on the field of the match.

After the encounter, Smith challenged the Indian batsmen to bowl short as it was the only major way to get their wickets. Indian speed attack including choice Jaspreet Bumrah, If India wants to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma will have to work hard.

He won a Test series for the first time on Australian soil in 2018-19 and much of the credit goes to the three bowlers who beat the opposition team and took a total of 51 wickets in four matches with Australia. Bowled 7 out of 8 times during the series.

During the home series against New Zealand in the 2019-20 season, the Australian top order struggled against the short bowling of fast bowler Neil Wagner. Wagner took the wicket of Steve Smith, David warner And Maranus Labasagne. Wagner had bowled a ball of bouncers and Steve Smith looked particularly uncomfortable and was dismissed four times by the left-arm pacer.

Talking about his struggle against short bowling and the upcoming Test series against India, Smith told News Corp, “This is not a play for me. I just play the game and fulfill the conditions, they are trying to get me out and able to counter it. I mean, a few different cons have tried it and they have definitely found it more difficult [execute it] The way Wagner did. They’ve got an amazing skill set, where their speed goes up and down … everything is between your ribs and your head.

“If teams are trying to get me out like this, then it is probably a big advantage for the team because if you bowl less consistently then it takes a lot out of people’s body. I have faced very little bowling in my life and I have not taken too much stress with it. I think we will just wait and see, ”he said.
