T Natarajan earns first call-up to India’s T20I squad for Australia tour; Varun Chakraborty ruled

Mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty The upcoming T20I series against Australia is ruled out. He made his first call on the back of some exceptional performances in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, he has a shoulder injury and unfortunately he will not go to Australia.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fast bowler T Natarajan has been replaced after one season of IPL. He played all 16 matches for his franchise this season and took 16 wickets at an average of 31.5. He has the highest number of yorkers in the IPL 2020, around 65-70, 2-3 times more than the second best.

T Natarajan’s inclusion in the T20I team, along with Mohammed Shami, Jaspreet Bumrah, Navdeep Saini and Deepak Chahar, became the fifth pacer of the team. It remains to be seen if Natarajan gets a chance to showcase her talent. With Hardik Pandya not likely to bowl, Team India can play three pacer in XI.

Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal will look after the spin department, while KL Rahul and Sanju Samson are the two wicketkeepers in the team. The first T20I of the three-match series will be played on 4 December in Canberra on 4 December, with a shift to Sydney for the final two matches on 6 and 8 December respectively.

All the players selected in India’s squad will leave for Sydney on November 12, immediately after the conclusion of IPL 2020 and will be quarantined for 14 days. They will also undergo training in the SCG and then the ODI series will start from 27 November.
