Amid coronavirus lockdown, the cricketing events have come to a halt. Being stuck at home, several cricketers are interacting with TV presenters, their current and former teammates, and revealing some interesting incites on the gentleman’s game.

England wrist-spinner Adil Rashid on Saturday spoke to ‘At the Crease TV’, and picked his World XI.

Rashid began with the devastating opening pair in the form of Australia’s David Warner and India’s Rohit Sharma. The left-right combination is sure to test the best of bowling attacks in the world with their explosive hitting.

The No. 3 and No. 4 slots were occupied by India captain Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s limited-overs skipper Babar Azam. While Kohli is surely the best batsman across formats, Babar is undoubtedly one of the most exciting talents coming through.

England’s ODI and T20I skipper Eoin Morgan comes in at No. 5 and has also been named the captain of the World XI by Rashid. A couple of more English players to feature next in the list in the form of all-rounder Ben Stokes and wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler. The trio had played a pivotal role in England’s triumph at the 2019 World Cup and are surely among the top players in the world at their respective positions.

Among bowlers, Rashid picked three pacers in the form of Mitchell Starc, Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult while Proteas veteran Imran Tahir is the only spinner in the side. Starc, Rabada and Boult have been the marquee pacers for their respective teams while Tahir is unarguably the finest spinner that Cricket South Africa (CSA) has ever produced.

Some of the biggest names to miss out in Rashid”s World XI would arguably be MS Dhoni, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Jasprit Bumrah.

Adil Rashid”s World XI:

Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Eoin Morgan (c), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (wk), Mitchell Starc, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Trent Boult.
