After picking the all-time IPL XI and the ODI XI, the former domestic giant Wasim Jaffer has now named the all-time Indian XI in Odys.
There, he went ahead with the blockbuster opening duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. Therefore, the Mumbai stalwart had no place for Delhi swashbuckler Virender Sehwag, who has a double ton to his name in ODI cricket.
Following Ganguly-Tendulkar are the modern masters of the game, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two Indian mainstays have been unstoppable in white-ball cricket, scoring tons at will.
For the finisher”s role, Jaffer went ahead with Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, completing a formidable batting lineup. However, there was no place for Rahul Dravid, who has more than 10,000 ODI runs to his name, after being tagged as a Test batsman initially.
Jaffer named talismanic Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Dhoni, who has a Champions Trophy, World T20 and the ODI World Cup to his name, as the captain of the side.
Perhaps the greatest all-rounder to grace Indian cricket, Kapil Dev walks in at number seven in Jaffer’s lineup.
The highest run-getter in first-class cricket, Jaffer, had a tossup between Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh. Either of the two-finger spinners paired up with Anil Kumble to complete the spin-attack.
The new ball shall be shared between Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah, who are, perhaps, two of the greatest bowlers produced by the country in Odys.
Here is Wasim Jaffer”s all-time Indian ODI XI:
Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh/Ravindra Jadeja, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Jasprit Bumrah.
