VVS Laxman calls the Wall Rahul Dravid as the game’s most committed student

Amid COVID-19 outbreak, VVS Laxman, the former Indian batsman is spending most of his time on the social media platform. He has taken a nostalgic route and since last three days, he is busy giving tribute to his former teammates like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble. Now, he has come out praising Rahul Dravid in a heartwarming gesture.

Laxman and Dravid played together for Team India for a long time. And, helped their side in winning many historic games. The pair was no less than a nightmare for Australia. They helped India win an impossible-looking game against Australia in Kolkata back in 2001. The duo overturned Team India’s fortune on the back of their 376-run record partnership. And hosts managed a significant victory against visitors by a big margin of 171 runs.

They also scripted another historical win for Team India on foreign soil. VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid stitched a magnificent partnership of 303 runs that helped the team in registering a convincing win against Australia in Adelaide by four wickets.

If we have a look at their cricketing career then fans will come to know that Dravid and Laxman signed off from international cricket in the same Test. However, they announced their retirement separately on different dates. They are rated as the gems of Indian cricketing history.

The Hyderabad born took to his official Twitter handle and shared a post giving tribute to Dravid. He wrote that “The Wall” was a team player and most committed student of gentlemen’s game. The former player also added that the 47-year-old was always ready for any kind of challenge. VVS Laxman also threw light over the fact that once when Team India needed a wicketkeeper, Dravid came forward and took the responsibility on his shoulders.

His post read,” The game’s most committed student, Rahul was the ultimate team man, responding to every challenge with complete dedication. Despite being in a position to say ‘no’, he not only kept wicket in white-ball cricket and opened the batting in Tests, but did so with utmost diligence.”
