Former Bangladesh U19 cricketer Mohammad Sozib died by suicide

Former Bangladesh U19 cricketer Mohammad Sozib died by suicide at his residence on Saturday, 14 November. The 21-year-old youth of Rajshahi was part of the Tigers’ U19 World Cup squad captained by Saifanan. He’s gone New zealand As a standby player, but was not included in the playing XI. The young right-hander was earlier in the Asia Cup squad of Bangladesh U19.

In 2018, he made his List A debut for Shinpukur, achieving scores of 9,0 and 1 *. However, since March 2018, he has not played a single competitive match. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sports development manager Abu Enam Mohammed was saddened by the incident.

Sojib was not part of the draft for the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Abu said that being out of the tournament could prompt him to step down.

“Saizib, along with Saif and Afif (Hussain) were part of our under-19 2018 batch. He was on standby in the World Cup. He played against Sri Lanka As well as in the Asia Cup. It was really sad to hear that, ”Abu told BDCerizim.

“It is difficult to say whether it is from depression or something. He has not been a regular in cricket over the years. He became too monarchically focused. He played only the First Division and (Dhaka) Premier League in Dhaka.

“He was not even in the Bangabandhu T20 draft. I don’t know that there’s anything to be disappointed about. He played in Rajshahi a day before yesterday.

BCB director Khalid Mahmood also recognized Sozeb as a talented cricketer over the years. “I couldn’t believe what I heard. I am deeply saddened to hear the news.

“He was a medium-speed bowler, and he played for the Shinpukur Cricket Club,” he said, adding Mahmood, who is also the head coach of the Bangla Trik Academy in Rajshahi, where Sozeb started training in 2008, Color Kantha had said.

Bangladesh first-class cricketer Tanumoy Ghosh said that Sozib was talented and could play longer. In Bangladesh, none of the services provide support for mental health. Only the BCB has come with mental health experts from time to time.
