The world’s largest university-level cricket tournament will feature a women’s edition for the first time, beginning with a championship in India. Red Bull Campus Cricket is set to start a women’s championship in India in 2021.

As the largest university-level cricket tournament in the world, the Red Bull campus gives cricket players the opportunity to represent their college team and go all the way to represent their country in the world finals. The year 2021 will be the first women’s edition of the tournament in India, in which national women’s team opener Smriti Mandhana will perform vigorously.

And others. International stars Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Niroshan Dikwela and Chirag Suri also played in Red Bull campus cricket before representing their respective countries.

Tournament to find out the next star in women’s cricket from 2021

The women’s competition will be held in four regions – North, South, East and West – with the winners of the zonal editions to play in the national finals. The winner of the national finals will be declared the best women’s college cricket team in India.

Some of the players participating in the Women’s Championship will get an amazing opportunity to interact with Smriti Mandhana. The Red Bull Campus Cricket 2020 India Final is currently underway in Lucknow. Jain College (Bengaluru), YBN College (Ranchi), SS Jain Subodh College (Jaipur), DAVV College (Indore), DAV College (Jalandhar), New LJ College (Ahmedabad), Loyla College (Chennai) and SOA University (Bhubaneswar) Participating in the national finals in hopes of becoming India’s champion. The coaches and players of Rajasthan Royals are also present in the national finals and the players will be recruited for the team trials next year.

About Red Bull Campus Cricket

Red Bull Campus Cricket is an annual international T20 tournament for college cricket teams, providing a platform for young talents to play on a world stage and make their way into professional cricket without giving up college education. The competition was launched in 2012 and is now in its ninth year.

In 2019, Red Bull campus cricket was played in 30 cities and consisted of 352 participating colleges. The tournament was won by DAV College, Chandigarh in a thrilling low-score final to emerge Hindustan College, Chennai as India’s champions. DAV College, Chandigarh represented India in the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019 World Finals in the UAE, where key players like Trek Bali (199 runs) and Pankaj Sharma (nine wickets) shone positively on the world stage.

The 2019 edition of the tournament marked a unique partnership with Rajasthan Royals to hunt India’s next upcoming cricket stars. A team of Rajasthan Royals closely monitored and selected the key players who were given a great chance to be part of the Rajasthan Royals trial for the next league auction. Four players participating in Red Bull Campus cricket were selected for the Rajasthan Royals trial.

They were Sushant Singh of Ranchi, Faizam Alam of Delhi, Manik Sirohi of Delhi and Shahrukh Khan of Chennai; Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Man of the Tournament at the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019 India Finals and was part of the 2019 league auction but remained unsold.
